Energy

Energy is the capacity or ability to do work or produce change. In physics, it is a quantitative property that can be transferred to objects in various forms, such as kinetic (motion), potential (position), thermal (heat), electrical, chemical, nuclear, and others. Energy is conserved in closed systems, meaning it can neither be created nor destroyed, only transformed from one form to another. This principle is known as the law of conservation of energy. Energy is essential in all physical processes and is a fundamental concept in science, underpinning various fields such as mechanics, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism. The unit of energy in the International System of Units (SI) is the joule.
