Reconocimiento Facial

Reconocimiento facial, or facial recognition, is a technology that identifies or verifies a person’s identity using their facial features. This process involves capturing an image of a person’s face and comparing it to a database of known faces. It utilizes various algorithms and computer vision techniques to analyze facial characteristics like the distance between the eyes, the shape of the jawline, and other distinguishing features.

Facial recognition systems typically operate in two main modes: identification, where an unknown face is matched against a database to find a potential identity; and verification, where a specific claimed identity is confirmed by matching the face against a stored image.

This technology is used in a variety of applications, including security systems, smartphone unlocking, social media tagging, law enforcement, and access control. Despite its usefulness, facial recognition technology raises concerns regarding privacy, surveillance, and potential bias in its accuracy across different demographic groups.
