Counterterrorism

Counterterrorism refers to the strategies, tactics, and operations implemented by governments, military organizations, and law enforcement to prevent, combat, and respond to terrorism. It encompasses a wide range of measures including intelligence gathering, law enforcement action, diplomatic efforts, and military interventions aimed at thwarting terrorist plots and diminishing the capabilities of terrorist organizations. Counterterrorism efforts often involve international cooperation and can include both offensive measures against terrorist groups and defensive measures to protect civilians and infrastructure from terrorist attacks. Additionally, counterterrorism may incorporate community engagement and support to address the underlying causes of radicalization and to build resilience against extremist ideologies. The primary goal of counterterrorism is to ensure national security, protect lives, and maintain public order in the face of threats posed by terrorism.
